The dance troup was formed in 2004 and has 12 dancers, ranging in ages from 30 - 85. The dancers perform in various festivals (Stiftungfests, Strassenfests, Mai fests, volksfests, jagerfests et al) in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio and Missouri. They also perform at schools for the German language clubs, at retirement centers and for private parties.
The dancers perform primarily with either the Rhein Valley Brass or with the Polka Squad ... they have performed with the Jay Fox Bavarian Show Band, Hank Haller Ensemble and with Ed Karosa.
Each Rhein Valley dancer is also a member of the North American Federation of German Folk Dance Groups and the North American Sector of Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Volkstanz, eingetragener Verein.
Larry & Carol also teach dance at the Germania Club two nights a month. Most of the lessons are either German or Austrian dances ... although they do also teach ballroom and Latin ... (I had a lovely time dancing with Larry when they visited in the summer of 2004)
